So this is blogging…

Well I am now an official part of the bloggosphere and I have no idea what to say.
First a little about myself. I am graduating this May with my degree in PR with an emphasis in film/theater from the University of Georgia. I am a member of PRSSA and Creative Consultants, a student run PR firm for business within the Athens community. I am a Creative Consultants account executive for Cine movie theater in downtown Athens. I am a George Foster Peabody student judge on the news radio committee, and I am doing volunteer PR work for the Robert Osborne Film Festival.

I genuinely love doing PR and learning about PR. I started this blog as an assignment for my Word Of Mouth Class with Dr. Russell and I have to admit that I am loving social media.

All of that being said, I feel like my life is in a total state of flux and it’s driving me crazy. I like plans, time lines and knowing what’s coming next. The last semester of your college career does not offer a whole lot certainty or stability. So I have decided that I am going to blog about my crazy last semester and my efforts to enter the professional PR world. So here goes nothing…

  1. Funny how the last semester of college seems to leave you with a perpetual knot of scary uncertainty in the pit of your stomach! Even if you know what you want to do and are sure you would be amazing at it if given a chance, how do you convince others to give you that chance and a paycheck to go along with it? Yikes!

  2. I graduated from BYU just about 5 years ago with a Psychology Major (Business minor). School really didn’t prepare me for the real working world. You pretty much learn as you go, and time will fly! When I graduated I had no idea what I wanted to do! And quite frankly it was extremely stressful. But I’m greatful for the small ad agency in Laguna Beach, California that took a chance on me. In my interview they asked me if I knew what interactive marketing was. My reply was, I’ve never heard of it. 5 years later and 3 companies later I am now the Interactive Strategy Manager at a very successful ad agency. Pretty crazy to think I was in your shoes less than 5 years ago. It’s been an exciting road and I wish you the best of luck! Hard work pays off.
    P.S. i’m friends with Natalie G.
